2008 ETHICS IN THE WORKPLACE was a huge success !
This year's event was held at the Bremerton Elks Lodge 1181on February 27,
2008. 124 students from Bainbridge High School, Bremerton High School,
Klahowya Secondary School, Olympic High School, Westside Alternative High
School, North Kitsap High School, North Mason High School, Gig Harbor High
School
, Shelton High School, South Kitsap High School, and West Sound
Technical Skills Cente
r
attended this day-long event. Click here to view event
pictures. Twenty-one community/business leaders served as volunteer table
leaders
and serveded as facilitators for table discussion between 5-6 students.
Ethical dilemmas were proposed by the table leaders and then student
discussion followed, with each table reaching a consensus. Students gained
insight into how values and ethics are acquired, learned how to define
appropriate work place values, applied decision making skills to real-world
dilemmas, and demonstreated decision making skills related to personal
career choices. The West Sound Education Consortium would like to extend a
special thank you to Puget Sound Energy, the Olympic College Foundation,
Washington Education Association, Quality Promotions, and South Kitsap
Photography program for provided funding or"purchasing" tables, goods, or
services for the event. Click here to view the Ethics in the Workplace video

Almost all young teens dream of a college education, but many
low-income students face formidable roadblocks. Few go to college,
and even fewer succeed. Lumina Foundation has joined with the
American Council on Education and the Ad Council to launch a new
campaign dedicated to raising awareness among low-income
students about the critical steps they need to take to get to
college. Follow the link, KnowHow2Go, to learn how this campaign
encourages students to take these steps and connects them with
helpful information and resources. Finding someone to help is the
